Get the Most From an Employment Agency

Construction employment agencies can be a huge help when you are looking for a job. After all, anything that improves your chances of landing the right job has to be a good thing.
However, how do you know you are registering with the right agency, and how do you know that you will get the right level of service? Here's how:
Research before registering
Before registering with an employment agency, be sure to look into them. See what sort of vacancies they offer, as many employment agencies specialise in certain industries.
If you can, talk to some of the people registered with them and ask about the kind of support the agency offers.
Once you have found out all you can, register with the agencies that look like they will be able to help you.
Stay in touch
Once you have registered with an agency, you should stay in regular contact.
Call or email your consultant once a week, to check if there are any new vacancies you might be interested in, or if they have any feedback from jobs you have applied for.
Ask for help
If you think you should restructure your CV, or work on your interview technique, ask you employment agency for help.
They will be able to help you create a CV that highlights what employers are looking for. They will also be able to arrange mock interviews, so you can get to know the types of questions employers are most likely to ask.
If your agency has a longstanding relationship with an employer, they will be able to help you tailor your CV or covering letter to appeal specifically to them. For example, some employers may like it if you include a section on hobbies in your CV, while others may see this as useless filler.
Tailor your CV based on the agencies recommendations and you should be able to appeal to the employers you want.
Be available
Make sure your employment agency can get in touch with you. If your address, mobile number or email address change, make sure you update the agency.
After all, they can't get in touch with you to pass on job details if they have the wrong contact information.
You may also want to instruct the agency of the best times to contact you. After all, if you are working, you do not want an employment agency phoning while you are in the office.
Most of all, work with the employment agency and you should be able to find the job you want.
