In today's free society, you have the right to work at any job you want. As you plan your job search, it is ideal to focus your search on a job you would like to do. Unfortunately, a job you'd love to do may not be in the picture. That "perfect" job may not exist, or may no longer exist:
- Technology may have outdated it
- It may have been outsourced overseas
- It may have been "absorbed" into a different job
- You may not be qualified for it
- You may not be able to do the job because of physical limitations
- You may face too much competition for it
The bottom line is you need to strike a balance between what your "ideal" job is and the reasonableness that you can actually find and get such a job. Finding such a balance between a job you would love doing and one in which you earn your living is not easy, and often becomes a lifetime quest. The key point is that for true happiness in life it is important to find a job you enjoy doing.
Don't be afraid to aim high. Maybe the perfect job for you seems unreachable at the moment. But just because it seems out of reach doesn't mean you can't attain it. If you really want it, plan accordingly. And then work your plan.
And, as Winston Churchill once said, "Never give up. Never give up. Never give up."
